Installation Instructions

Installing a Joomla template is easy 99% of the time. From time to time you may get an error message, many of which are covered below. To install a template, log into the Joomla administrator (www.yourwebsite.com/administrator). Roll over Extensions in the menu and click on Install/Uninstall. Use the file browser to select your template file (which you should find inside of the template folder) and click on Upload and Install. Then you should go to the Template Manager, and set Optimus - Free as the default template.

Frequently Asked Questions

• May I remove the Joomlashack branding?
  • You may remove the branding ONLY if you have purchased the rebranding license, or you have a developer club membership that provides you with the rebranding license. Otherwise you are not allowed to disable it, and we will not support templates which have the branding disabled without a license.
• May I use this template more than once?
  • You may use each individual product on a single website only, belonging to either you or your client. You must purchase additional site licenses in order to make more sites with the same template. We try to be as flexible as possible with this approach. For example, if you are using a staging/demo server to prepare the site for a client, and then plan to move it to the client's hosting, you'll only need one license. Visit the Licensing Center to purchase additional licenses.
• Why does my template not look like the demo?
  • Each template requires setup after being installed. This is due to the templates not using the same module position names as the default templates. To read more about setting up, read the setup documentation, while module positions are available in a module map found in the product information page.
• How do I get help customizing my template?
  • We do not provide direct support for customization questions, you should refer to the community forum for these kinds of questions.
• What are your Terms of Service?
  • All purchases from Joomlashack are subject to our Terms of Service. Be sure to read them in full before contacting us about a refund or other issue.
• Do your templates produce valid HTML and CSS?
  • We try hard to make sure our templates display correctly in all major browsers, and we often try to push the technology forward and use new techniques. Therefore in some cases our HTML or CSS may not validate, especially CSS3 code. We do try to get as close as possible, and only guarantee the quality of the template output, not of extensions which we have no control over.

Troubleshooting

• Error! Could not find an XML setup file in the package
• This means Joomla wasn't able to find the specific file in the zip that tells it how to install the template.
• JFolder::create: Could not create directory. Warning! Failed to move file.
• This error is due to incorrect folder settings on your server. Its a Joomla, not a template error. To check you have the right permissions, Joomla has a built in tool: "Help > System Info > Directory Permissions" These all need to be green for Joomla to work properly. You can find more information about how to set up servers for Joomla here in the Joomla documentation.
